Tess Jaray (b. 1937, Vienna) and Paul de Monchaux (b. 1934, Montreal) met for the first time at the Slade School of Fine Art in the late 1950s, where for a brief period their courses overlapped. Since then, they have maintained a close friendship, exchanging ideas on art and architecture during a long discourse of letters and emails.
Karsten Schubert London’s online booth looks back at Jaray and de Monchaux’s work from the 1980s and 1990s.
In December, Tess Jaray’s Cadence (1986) will be exhibited in Turin at the Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GAM). It has been selected by Artissima curators to be part of a series of physical exhibitions across Turin’s leading museums and galleries, which will accompany the online edition of the fair.
